Canva is an excellent tool for individuals who want to create images, without expert knowledge of photo layout or design background.

Its custom templates and a drag-and-drop interface make it a breeze to navigate and only a few clicks to apply, but what about Canva Pro.

Today I will share 5 beneficial reasons to upgrade and why I think Canva Pro is worth it.

The cost of Canva Pro is relatively cost efficient considering what you can do with this software.

Of course things change over time, so you can check out Canva Pro pricing here!

The free version of this software program gives numerous options and functions, which permit you to create professional designs without having to spend any money.

However, Canva Pro is definitely worth paying a small amount to unlock all the features.

There are many reasons to upgrade but I will be sharing the 5 biggest advantages of going Pro in Canva.

If you're trying to decide whether to upgrade to Canva Pro or not, hopefully this will help you make the best decision.

Below I have a list of the 5 beneficial reasons you should upgrade to Canva Pro.

That being said, I will even throw in an extra bonus to make it 6 reasons. Lets explore these benefits together.

Here is a list of 6 benefits of Canva Pro:

  1. Options: Unlocks All Canva Design Elements
  2. Magic Resize: Replicate Designs in Different Sizes
  3. Customization: Reuse Templates & Branding Materials
  4. Schedule to Social Media: Manage Directly from Canva
  5. Transparent Backgrounds: Get Rid of Those Ugly Boxes
  6. BONUS (revealed at end of post)

1. Options: Unlocks All Canva Design Elements

In the free version, you are given limited choices when it comes to design in Canva. This includes but not limited to; text/fonts, image choices, template selections, etc.

Long time Canva users will appreciate the flexibility the Pro version has once they want to expand their designs. It opens up so many additional options for your creativity.

As you can see in the picture above, if you see a crown on the picture, that means it’s only for Pro version members. Sometimes this can be very limiting when trying to create unique content.

2. Magic Resize: Replicate Designs in Different Sizes

Normally, when you start to work on a new design in Canva, you choose your preferred design type, such as a Facebook Post, Instagram Story, YouTube video, etc.

Depending on which kind of design you choose, you will be given a workspace with those specific dimensions to create your piece of content.

In the free version of Canva, once you select which type you want and start to create it, you’re pretty much committed to that size.

Here is where this can become a problem.

Lets say you want to create the same content piece but on two different platforms or in this case, a Facebook Post and an Instagram Reel.

This means that you either have to start over or somehow copy from one design to the other.

You like to work smarter, not harder, right?

With only a few clicks using the Magic Resize tool, you can eliminate that problem immediately and get more accomplished in less time.

With this feature, you can create duplicates in different sizes depending on the platforms you would like to share your media to.

3. Customization: Reuse Templates & Branding Materials

Custom templates definitely speed up the design process and also take the headache out of having to recreate something new every time.

Just like the Canva Magic Resize tool, you can recreate something with a few clicks.

If you use Canva for business needs, you will love the branding feature.

You basically get to save your brand colors and logo designs as a template, so you can customize all your content with the same color and style scheme.

Can you imagine if McDonald’s had multiple different designs or colors and no specific brand scheme?

Take this example below. Do they look the same? Would you know if they were all McDonald’s or not?

Branding is important!

Of course, if you are using the Canva free version, there is a way around this if you just duplicate an existing design. But why make this more difficult than it needs to be?

One good thing is, by creating a template, you are casting a safety net for yourself and making it difficult to erase or ruin your design.

With a template, you can avoid an accidental deletion or design mistake that you can never reverse.

4. Content Planner: Schedule Social Media Posts

This is by far, one of my most favorite benefits of using Canva Pro.

It’s all about scheduling posts directly through Canva.

Now keep in mind, you can post directly to your social media platforms with the free version but with the Pro, you can actually schedule them to be released at some time in the future.

Having a post go out while you are on vacation, sleeping or sick, is a life saver. If you have one day a week where you spend all your time creating content, you can schedule these to go out once a day for the following week.

How much time would you save? Would this be a great benefit for you to utilize? As of this writing, TikTok is not an option.

5. Transparent Backgrounds: Get Rid of Those Ugly Boxes

Which one looks better to you?

If you are OCD like me, those ugly white boxes drive you nuts.

Many years ago when I was designing different websites, I disliked see the logo with that box around it.

It made it look so cheesy and unprofessional.

If you are looking to post your logo on your website or use the same logo on flyers, social media posts and other places, this would be very beneficial for you to have in your back pocket.

There isn’t much to say about this feature but it’s definitely a great one to have!

6. BONUS - Background Remover

This is by far my favorite tool in Canva Pro, hands down.

I didn’t think this feature would work as well as it does but I am impressed every time I use it.

If you are creating thumbnails for YouTube, you will love this feature.

Canva Pro pricing is very reasonable in my eyes.

Canva Pro cost only $13 a month at the time I published this article.

If you don’t even have Canva, give it a try below. You won't be disappointed.
